Whispers of Faith (“we”, “us”) is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [ADDRESS]. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Whispers of Faith app and website, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
What we collect
| Information | Why we use it |
|---|---|
| Account details: your first name, email address, and an identifier from Apple or Google if you sign in with them. | To create your account, sign you in, and contact you about your account or a support request. |
| Your preferences: your Christian tradition (for example Catholic or Orthodox), Bible language and translation, app language, topics you chose, reminder times and display settings. | To show the right books of the Bible, translations, prayers and verses, and to send reminders when you asked for them. |
| What you save: liked verses, bookmarks, highlights, the days you prayed, and your prayer journal entries. | To keep them safe and available on all your devices. Only you can see your journal. |
| Invites: your invite code, who invited you, and how many friends joined or subscribed through your invite. | To give invited friends extra free days and to award badges. |
| Subscription status: whether you have Premium, which plan, and when it renews or ends. We never see your card or bank details; Apple and Google handle payment. | To unlock Premium features. |
| Device information: a notification token, time zone, device platform and app version. | To deliver notifications at the right local time and to help us fix problems you report. |
| Messages you send us through Help & feedback or by email. | To answer you and improve the app. |
About your religious tradition
Your tradition can reveal your religious beliefs, which some laws (including the EU and UK GDPR) treat as a special category of personal data. Choosing a tradition is optional (you can pick “Other”), and we use it only to tailor the app for you. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give when you choose it, and you can change or remove it at any time in Settings.
What stays on your phone
Downloaded Bibles, the verses you have already seen in the feed, and your reminder schedule are stored only on your device. Prayer reminders are scheduled by your phone itself.
Who helps us run the app
We share information only with service providers that process it for us under contract, and only as needed:
- Supabase: hosts our database and sign-in. Region: [REGION, e.g. EU (Frankfurt)].
- RevenueCat: manages subscription status on top of the App Store and Google Play.
- Apple and Google: “Sign in with Apple/Google”, payments, and delivery of notifications.
- Expo: relays push notifications to Apple and Google.
- Free Use Bible API (bible.helloao.org): the app downloads Bible text from it. Like any website, it receives your IP address but no account information.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and others.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile and everything you saved are deleted from our systems right away, and from backups within [30] days. Subscription records that we must keep for tax or accounting reasons are kept for as long as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account anytime in the app under Profile → Delete account, or as described on our support page.
- Access, correct or export your information by emailing support@whispersoffaith.app.
- Notifications can be turned off in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, California or Brazil), you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest with our hosting provider. Access to the database is restricted so that each account can read only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong email password and keep your phone locked.
Children
Whispers of Faith is meant for people aged 13 and older (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in some EU countries). We do not knowingly collect information from younger children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
